- Is there a consultation fee?
There is never a consultation fee at our firm. At the Law Offices of William K. Goldfarb, it is always free to speak to Mr. Goldfarb about your potential case.
- Can I afford an Attorney?
Simply put, everyone can afford an Attorney at our firm. Many if not all of the cases we handle are done so on what is call a contingency fee basis. That means that our fees are collected as a percentage of the settlement you receive, so there is no need for you to ever to have to worry about any out of pocket expenses.
- If I have a case, how long does it take to settle my case?
There is never a definite timeline to settle any case, an Attorney that promises you a definite timeline for a settlement is not telling you the truth. The fact of the matter is that ever case has a unique set of circumstances and facts and there is no way to tell how long the pre-litigation/ litigation period will take.
- What kind of cases do you handle?
The Law Offices of William K. Goldfarb is a personal injury firm. This means that most of our clients have been injured in some way. - Do I have a case?
That determination can only be made by a qualified legal professional. Consultations are always free and the determination about whether or not to pursue a case can often be made in the same day.
- Am I charged every time I need to ask a question about my case?
The Law Offices of William K. Goldfarb never charge for a consultation and never charge you for questions you may have about your case. Feel free to ask as may questions as you like. - Will a lawsuit / claim cause my insurance rates to go up?
In most circumstances a lawsuit or claim will not cause your insurance rates to increase. However, there are exceptions and one of our legal professionals will be more than happy to discuss your particular set circumstances with you in depth for free, so that you may make an educated decision that best fits your particular needs.
- What if the person who caused my accident is from another state?
Claims and lawsuits against out of state parties can always be pursued through an Attorney in your home state. Mr. Goldfarb is proficient in this area of the law and has handled numerous such cases.
- Do I have to pay taxes on my settlement?
No, your settlement money is tax-free.
- If I don’t get a settlement do I still have to pay your fee?
The Law Offices of William K. Goldfarb will never ask you to pay a fee if we do not collect a settlement for you. Also, our firm will never exceed the money to put in your own pocket once your case has settled.
- If you can’t handle my case, can you help me to find another attorney?

- What do the medical payments/ medpay areas on my insurance policy mean?
Medical payments/ medpay are part of your insurance policy that pay you certain amounts of money to help cover medical expenses while you are waiting for your case to settle. Not all policies have medical payments/ medpay, if your policy provides for this provision information will be contained on your policy’s declarations page. - What if the person who caused my accident doesn’t have enough insurance to cover my claim?
If you are injured by a motorist that has little or no insurance, in most circumstances a claim can still be pursued through your own insurance by a portion of your policy known a Uninsured Motorist/ Under Insured Motorist. However, each case is different and you should always contact a qualified legal professional that can help make determinations that best fit your particular needs.
